Adjusting to Post Partum

Post partum thus far has been refreshingly easy. Apologies in advance for the humble brag. Less than week after delivery, the Hubs, Sloane and I started taking daily walks around our neighborhood. We started with short ones and going really slowly for me. The crazy hot weather that week was also a good reason to walk super slowly.

Sloane had a mild case of jaundice that first week so we really wanted to get her outside getting some vitamin D. Moving about, albeit as slowly as I was, was good for me too. While I can’t workout until my post-delivery OB appointment in a few more weeks, walking is one of the physical activities that’s still on the approved list. I’ll chalk up the fact that my post-delivery swelling went down so fast to getting out and about so early on.

Unfortunately I’m still in maternity pants/shorts or in larger sizes of regular clothes, but as I’m writing this post (almost four weeks post-delivery) I have only 10-12lbs more to go to get to pre-pregnancy weight. Of course, most of that’s in my low abs, hips and butt, so who knows if I’ll ever fit my old jeans again. Here’s to the new normal right? Now if I could only adjust to sleeping in 2-3hr blocks of time and still being able to function like a normal human being!
